We are having a rough time. Cass, having decided she's not much good on the pitch, opted to play goalie. She borrowed a book from the library & thought she knew it all. The blokes coaching from the sideline got very short shift but eventually she took one bad ball too many & snapped her wrist back. Liddy is in a sling; why wouldn't Cass want her wrist strapped?
After just 2 games Liddy's soccer season is over. Worse the day she got the news trials that lead to state selection started. She had planned on being there this year. Her collar bone has one of the worst possible breaks. The outer end of the bone is 2 cm higher than the inner; no connection at all yet. Six weeks before healing will even begin, 12 before we know if it's likely to happen at all & 3 years before the remodeling of the bone is fully accomplished. She is soooo NOT a happy bunny. Dearest & I are not popular for refering to the break as 'the attitude adjuster'.
Having given up my Dr's appointment to Liddy twice in a row (Dr's appointments being rarer than gold here) I finally went & had my growth cut out. I loathe needles anyway & this was a particularly nasty one. God bless Cass, who held my hand tight because she doesn't like needles either. What was suppossed to be a local anesthetic practicaly put me to sleep & the girls refused to get in the car & let me drive for at least 20 minutes afterwards. They kept a sharp eye on me all the way home.
The good news is that lessons have begun well. Cass' handwriting, always a sore point, has shown a marked improvement. She has remembered how to do long multiplication & is not grizzling about the amount of writing she has to do on Malawi. She has been less enthusiastic about making notes on the sun but as it's a video & not reading she's not too stressed. Plus flute & band decided to work out remarkably well after a period that looked like making my life completely miserable & Cass has submitted most of her artwork for the exhibition. I'm sure Liddy knows how to post it in here so one of these days I shall get her to teach me, only not just at the moment while her 'attitude adjuster' is doing some adjusting.
